Building Trauma-Informed, Nature-Connected Communities

We support schools, communities, and organisations to develop trauma-informed, nature-based environments that build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and create lasting systemic change.

What We Do

We combine trauma-informed practice, neuroscience, and outdoor learning to deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

  • Develop forest schools and wilderness spaces within schools
  • Train staff in trauma-informed and regulation-based approaches
  • Support whole-school      cultural change
  • Deliver community  de-escalation and trauma awareness training
  • Build partnerships  across education, services, and local communities

Why It Matters

Children and communities are increasingly experiencing distress, disconnection, and unmet needs. Traditional approaches often focus on managing behaviour rather than understanding it.

Our work shifts the focus to:

  • Regulation before  cognition
  • Connection before  correction
  • Environment as a tool  for healing and growth

Our Approach

We work at three levels:

Children and Young People
Nature-based experiences that build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation

Workforce Development
Practical, evidence-informed training that empowers staff to respond to trauma and distress

Community and Systems Change
Aligning schools, families, and local organisations to create consistent, trauma-informed responses

Trauma-Informed Forest and Wilderness Development fosters community resilience by supporting schools in designing and implementing their own forest or wilderness spaces. This initiative embeds sustainable food growing practices and promotes nature-connected communities. We deliver child-focused sessions aimed at building confidence, regulation, and resilience in young people, while also training staff to independently sustain and further develop these trauma-informed practices.

Workforce Training and Capacity Building

Our trauma-informed training, rooted in neuroscience and relational practice, enhances community resilience by equipping individuals with essential skills. Participants will learn practical grounding, regulation, and de-escalation techniques that are crucial for creating nature-connected communities. We advocate for whole-school approaches that effectively embed trauma-responsive environments. Additionally, our community-based training extends to local organisations, including shops, libraries, sports groups, and the voluntary sector, fostering greater community resilience across all sectors.
